Going Where He Leads

      Gary

“Wherever He Leads I’ll Go” is one of the many hymns written by B.B. McKinney. This song described his faith in the Lord to lead him and his commitment to follow Jesus wherever that might be. Our life’s purpose, individually and as a church, should be found in the words of the chorus: “I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I’ll go.”
Such faith is simple: it depends on the Spirit of Christ to enable us to live for Him, period. Being people who follow Jesus wherever He leads will develop us into individuals and a church whose love and lifestyle are used by God to compel our families, friends and enemies, communities, and the world to consider Christ’s love for them.
The love of Christ manifests itself through us as we love all people the way He does. There is no discrimination with God. He loves us regardless. Following Christ wherever He leads will bring us to people in all walks of life where we will extend to them the grace He has given to us because He loves them and we love them.

The Lord has led us to invest our human and financial resources in ministering to children and students. The nursery and eight Sunday School classes teach 65-75 children and students about Christ while parents are in Sunday Schools of their own. Nursery and Children’s Church provides care and worship for younger children during worship.
Following Christ’s leading, a number of adults currently invest their time on any given Sunday and Wednesday evening to give from 70-90 children and students opportunities to know and grow in Christ. Our obedience to follow Christ wherever He leads in ministering to children and students reflects Christ’s desire that no one will be lost but that all may come to know Christ.
Sunday School & Discipleship ministries are our core ministries to accomplish the task of following Christ by making disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). He commands us to utilize the process He used to share His Good News: interacting with people, telling them how to be at peace with God, baptizing them into the Church fellowship and teaching and training them to obey Christ in everything.
We can and should start new Sunday School classes to reach other people with the gospel. We can and should all grow in grace through CLASS discipleship so that we can continue His process of discipling others and equipping them to be disciple-makers, also.
Jesus said that we must worship Him in spirit and in truth, individually and as a body of believers (John 4:23-24; Heb. 10:25). The desire to follow Christ has given birth to a willingness to embrace various expressions of corporate worship at ABC. This unselfish and cooperative spirit is responsible for the wide diversity of people who gather each week to honor and glorify God through corporate worship.
This can be our prayer together: “My heart, my life, my all I bring to Christ who loves me so; He is my Master, Lord, and King . . .wherever He leads I’ll go.”
